Pink Onion Chopped

Description

The 3-5 mm chopped cut is the most consistently specified size in the whole dehydrated onion range — every source checked quotes the same 3-5 mm band, which makes it the easiest grade to contract against. It is produced by dicing peeled light-red onion to a controlled square cut before drying, then screening tightly so the finished product is visually uniform rather than the irregular shapes of kibbled. Uniformity is the whole point of this grade: it disperses evenly in a dry seasoning blend without segregating to the top or bottom of the bag, and it rehydrates quickly and predictably at 2-3 minutes. Buyers are seasoning houses and spice blenders, soup and gravy manufacturers, curry and masala paste plants, savoury bakery and pastry fillings, stuffing mixes and the growing Indian ready-to-cook segment. Pink is specified here where the formulation needs the onion to be present in the eating texture but the base is pale — a white sauce, a cream gravy, a light namkeen coating — and red onion would tint it. Pink also lands well on cost, which matters at the volumes seasoning blenders buy. Standard controls apply: moisture under 5-6%, negative peroxidase, colour sorting, metal detection, full micro panel per lot with a Certificate of Analysis.
